Hi Session Embalming Services,
Is public viewing really necessary, especially in the case of cremations? I would really like to remember the person the way I saw them last.

Greeting David
First let me say that is a good question! Public viewing is designed to allow the public and family the opportunity to say goodbye. It also gives a reality check that the person has really passed on. So many times people don't want to see the person because they don't want to face the reality of death. What if the last time you saw a person was in the hospital with tubes, monitors, and airways, is this the memory that you want to have? I don't think so. Highly trained embalmers will know how to make your loved one look as normal as possible again.

Session Embalming Services,
With more people opting to be at home when they die, how long is too long before the mortuary is called for pick up?

The family should call the mortuary at least one hour after death. Up to four hours is allowed if the room is air conditioned.

Did you know that a family can have a traditional service with cremation as one of their options?

I just ran across an article with information about websites that can be used to inform others of a person's funeral wishes upon death. They are deathswitch.com and slightlymorbid.com. Do you think this might catch on in the funeral industry?
